- Rivers state in the south-southern part of Nigeria has remained volatile because of the political rivalry that has taken over the state over time
- The state governor, Nyesom Wike has now alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the result of a re-run yet to be conducted
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has revealed that the minister of Transportation , Rotimi Amaechi, has received the original result of the senatorial re-run that is yet to be conducted in the state.
The governor alleged that the result was released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Amaechi, a former governor of the state.
Wike said that the feeble denial of the minister of Transportation that he is not in receipt of result sheets from INEC proves that the evil plot is still on.
In a statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, Wike's special assistant on electronic media, the governor said this while flagging-off the reconstruction of the general hospital, Nchia in Eleme local government area on Thursday, November 24.
Governor Wike noted that in the denial, Amaechi did not dispute the fact that APC leaders met with him in Abuja on Tuesday.
He urged all the people of the state to remain vigilant all through the electoral process "in order to stop the introduction of criminally acquired results" by Amaechi and his cohorts.
"Follow your results from the polling units to the ward collation centre down to the local the local government centre collation .
"We have information that they plan to use policemen and other security agents to beat people up, drive them from the collation centres and thereafter allow APC to smuggle in the result sheets handed over to Amaechi," he said while calling on the people of Eleme to work for their freedom and liberty despite the attempts to enthrone electoral fraud.
“Their only game plan is to use security as a tool of intimidation. With free and fair elections, APC has no hope in Rivers state,” he said.
He urged the people of the area to vote for the PDP and reminded them that the APC leaders neglected the place for eight years due to political vendetta.
