A 28-year-old woman, Nnenna Sunday, has confessed to the police in Abia state how she and her employer wipe out expiry dates from products and sell to unsuspecting members of the public.
She told the police that she and her employer apply chemicals to erase batch production numbers and expiry dates from goods before selling same to her customers.
Miss Sunday, who was paraded by the police in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, confessed being innocent as she only carried out the instruction of her employer.

She told journalists in Abia that the practice has been on for years before she was employed into the company.
“I did not do anything. They have been doing it before I came. I am not the first or the second. I do not understand this type of temptation.
“My hands are clean. Police saw us wiping out the expiry dates on the snacks and it is my oga (boss) that asked me to do it because that is how he has been doing it before he employed me.
“I joined the company recently and do not know my boss very well,” the suspect said.
According to Daily Post, the state commissioner of police, Adeleye Oyebade, said her arrest was geared towards ensuring a safe and secured environment for the people of the state.
He said: “The crime is very serious as it endangers the lives of the buyers of the expired products.”
The CP noted that the suspect would be charged to court at the completion of investigation.
