Boko Haram bombers adopt new strategy

Intelligence reports have shown that Boko Haram bombers now visit their targets at home after lacing themselves with improvised explosive devices.

The latest information is coming just hours after four female su*cide bombers, detonated explosive devices at Usmanti along Muna Garage axis, Maiduguri Borno state which killed two men and injured 16 others.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that the bombers, ready for the explosion, would approach the home of those to be killed, especially at night, knock and wait for the door to be opened before they would detonate bombs.

The su*cide bombers have now devised a new strategy by knocking at residences in the night and detonating the explosive once the door was opened, investigations have revealed.

Quoting a security source, the report said: “One of the su*cide bombers detonated the explosive device close to a security facility in the area.”

Spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), North-East zone, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, confirmed the latest attach by the bombers and said rescue efforts were ongoing.

“Rescue and health workers had immediately moved to scene after the alert. The victims have been transported to the state specialist hospital and university teaching hospital in Maiduguri,” he said.
