- Fulani herdsmen have attacked Kwande local government area of Benue state again
- The herdsmen attacked two women working on their farms
- One of the women died on the spot while the other has been taken to the hospital for treatment
Barely a week after suspected Fulani herdsmen gruesomely killed 15 persons in Kwande local government area of Benue state, another woman has been killed and one other injured.
The Punch reports that suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked the women at Adam village in Mbakyor council ward of Kwande LGA on Monday, April 10, while they were working on their farms.
A source said: “The women and their children were on their farms when the Fulanis invaded the area, attacking them with machetes. One of them died on the spot, while another has been taken to the hospital.”
The incident was confirmed by the director-general services and administration at the council area, Mr. Teryila Iorhemen.
He said: “It is true we have a case that happened this morning at Adam, located between Jato Aka and Anwanze.
“Two women were on their farm with their children when suspected herdsmen attacked them. One of the women, identified as Mbanegen Nwuase, died instantly, while the other woman whose name I do not have now, is critically injured and receiving treatment at health centre at Jato Aka.”
According to him, the children ran away when the incident happened but they were found a few hours later.
The security adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom, Col. Edward Jando (retd) confirmed that Iorhemen sent a report of the incident to him.
When contacted, the state police public relations officer, Moses Yamu, said he had not yet been briefed about the incident.
