Nigerians have taking to social media to react to the suspension of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayodele Oke.
President Buhari has also ordered an investigation into the allegations of violations of law and due process made against the secretary to the government of the federation.
The president has ordered a full scale investigation into the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has claimed.
NAIJ.com recalled that Lawal was indicted by the Senate report for allegedly contravening the provisions of the public procurement act and the federal government’s financial rules and regulations pertaining to award of contracts.
Chinedu Ewelukwa, a Facebook user in his reaction said: "Why only suspending an obviously corrupt secretary who thought you have his back? How many of your critics and political enemies did you order an investigation on their case before sending the police, EFCC and DSS after them?
"It's quite unfair to suspend him without suspending and sacking Amaechi and other looters in your cabinet. That must be because they know your dirty secrets. There's no need suspending your secretary when the investigation will most likely end in his favour.
"I only pity Ayo who you want to use as the sacrificial lamb the way you used the guy that implemented a law against general overseers of pentecostal churches in Nigeria.
Mezie Akalusia Ugonwanne in his reaction simply said: "Kai baba, sack Amaech now."
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com has also reported that the suspended SGF rushed into Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s office when his suspension was announced on Wednesday, April 19.
He was reported to have feigned ignorance of the action of President Muhammadu Buhari.
On his way out of the meeting with Osinbajo, Lawal was quoted as telling State House correspondents that he was not aware of his suspension and further requested to know who wrote the statement announcing his suspension.
