In a new book titled: 'Against the Run of Play' former president, Goodluck Jonathan said foreign powers helped President Muhammadu Buhari emerge victorious in the 2015 general election.

Legit.ng gathered that Jonathan blamed his loss in the election on former United States president, Barack Obama, ex-British prime minister, David Cameron and French President Francois Hollande who he said aided President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory.

However, the United States government has denied playing any role in his defeat at the 2015 presidential polls.

According to The Punch, the US government issued the denial along with a statement by the US embassy spokesman, Russel Brooks, on Wednesday, April 26.

“The US advocated a free, fair and transparent election. The election outcome was an expression of the will of the Nigerian people,” the statement said in part.

Meanwhile, in the same book, Goodluck Jonathan said he was disappointed in former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Attahiru Jega, over the handling of the 2015 general elections.

Legit.ng gathered that the ex-president said: “I was disappointed by Jega because I still cannot understand what was propelling him to act the way he did in the weeks preceding the election.”
