We may arrest Goje if he continues to shun invitation - Police

- The Nigeria Police accuse Senator Danjuma Goje of ignoring its invitation

- The police warn that Goje would be arrested should he continue to shun police invitation on the grounds that nobody is above arrest

- The police have returned the documents it seized from the home of Senator Goje

The Nigerian Police has told the lawmaker representing Gombe-central senatorial district, Senator Danjuma Goje, to honour its invitation or risk arrest.

The police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, issued the warning on Thursday, April 27, during a breakfast television show titled, ‘Sunrise Daily’ on Channels TV.

He said: “On the day the house was searched, a call was put through to him (Goje) by Ango Usman, who is the housekeeper, confirming to him the presence of the police team. He (Goje) said he was coming on that day but he switched off his phone afterwards.

“The following day, which was a Friday, one Nura got in touch with the police investigator and said they were coming on Friday with their lawyers to the police headquarters to meet with the investigators but they never did. Later, they called that they would come on Monday but they never did.

“So, I am using this opportunity to equally call on him to appear before the investigation panel because the investigation is still ongoing into all the recovery that was made in his house and it is important that nobody be allowed to cast aspersion on the investigation of police to pervert the course of justice.”

Moshood noted that Goje would be arrested should he continue to shun police invitation on the grounds that nobody is above arrest.

"We will definitely do so and it is important for him to know that on time and appear before the police investigation team handling the matter.”

Meanwhile, the Legit.ng reports that the Nigeria Police Force has returned the documents that it seized from the home of Senator Danjuma Goje.

Legit.ng recalls that police stormed Goje's home around 5:00 p.m and ransacked the compound the for hours Reports said that at least 12 vehicles, including about eight police vans were stationed outside the building and at least 25 mobile police officers were sighted outside the building, located on Haile Selassie Street, Asoroko.

The Punch says Police returned the documents on Thursday, April 27, after the National Assembly directed the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris to return them.

Earlier, the police released a full list of all the things that it confiscated from Senator Goje's residence.

Police spokesperson Jimoh Moshood, who signed the statement, also said that the force did not take any 2017 budget proposal documents as claimed by the senator.
