Barrister Maxwell Opara, a lawyer to the Indigenous People of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has revealed how he and other notable Igbo leaders pleaded with the IPOB leader to sign his bail.

According to him, Nnamdi kanu refused to accept his bail but he was coaxed to accept it because of his health through series of entreaties.

Opara who made this known on his twitter handle said: “Kanu refused to sign his bail. He said he won’t go unless his co-accused are released.

“We had to beg him, his co-accused had to beg to go because he is really sick. We told him it is a man who is alive that can fight for self determination.

Going further, the lawyer insisted that some of the bail conditions given to Nnamdi kanu are against his rights.

“Some of those bail conditions given to Nnamdi Kanu go against the principle of fundamental human rights.

“I’m not his direct counsel but I’m sure my colleague will change that in court soon. The struggle continues.”

Recall that NAIJ.com reported that Nnamdi Kanu who perfected his controversial bail conditions on April 28, left the Kuje prison same day, after being in jail for one year and six months.

However, barely four days after he was released from prison after meeting bail conditions, the leader of the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has allegedly disobeyed one of the conditions attached to his bail.

NAIJ.com previously reported that the trial Justice Binta Nyako Federal High Court, Abuja said her decision to release Kanu on bail on Tuesday April 25 was based on health grounds and stated as part of bail conditions that the Biafra leader must not be in a crowd exceeding 10 persons.
