The High Court II sitting in Minna, Niger state has remanded the former governor of the state, Babangida Aliyu Muazu, Premium Times.

The court will on Wednesday, May 3 decide whether Muazu and his Chief of Staff, Umar Nasko, will be granted bail or not.

According to the report, the duo were remanded in prison by the court pending a decision on their application for bail.

Muazu and Nasko are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on allegations bordering on fraud, embezzlement and misappropriation of state resources.

Nasko was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2015 governorship election in the state.

NAIJ.com gathered that the prosecuting counsels are not comfortable with the judge handling the trial, and are seeking a transfer of the case or replacement of the judge.
