But another close source said Obanikoro would still defect to the APC because he cannot stomach factional leader of the PDP Ali Modu Sheriff.

One source said of the impending defection: “We know for sure that he will not work with the Ali Modu Sheriff in the PDP,” the source said.

“The situation is very dicey in the PDP right now, so if eventually he would have to move to the APC, then we can’t rule it out.”

Another source added: “He may not want to deny it because maybe, eventually, he may go.

“He has said that he can never work with (Ali Modu) Sheriff, I see that as just about time… many of them who say they will never work with Sheriff probably have their minds elsewhere.

"But they just have to be patient, Sheriff will only be there till June, when the party will hold its Convention, and it’s not possible that he (Sheriff) will take everything.”

NAIJ.com had earlier reported that Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is expected to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a matter of days following his meeting with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as part of his plans for 2019.

According to sources, the ruling party would be discussing the possible return of Obanikoro in Lagos following a go-ahead of from Tinubu.

It was first reported that Tinubu was reluctant to have Obanikoro back into the party but following series of pleas from prominent Lagosians who interceded on Obanikoro’s behalf, the APC chieftain agreed to meet the former minister.
