Two Nigerian lawmakers have asked Professor Yemi Osinbajo to rely on the section of the constitution quoted by President Muhammadu Buhari as he takes charge of activities in the country.
Shehu Sani, a Senator representing one of the districts in Kaduna, and Abdulmumin Jibrin, a suspended member of the House of Representatives, both asked Osinbajo to take charge as he was backed by the constitution.
“Yemi Osinbajo is the ACTING PRESIDENT and not a ‘National Coordinator’.
“Quoting the relevant section in the constitution in the president's letter takes care of the 'disturbing appellation' even though coordinator shouldn't have been used and must not be in the future if the need arises,” Sani said on Wednesday, May 10.
In his own opinion, Jibrin said: “PMB's letter quoted the relevant section, except we choose to be mischievous; the word: ‘coordinator’ in this context is inconsequential."

Jibrin added: "I do not believe that the letter was drafted with any negative intent otherwise it would have been silent on the relevant section of constitution.
"We should be more angry at those making a big deal out of the word 'coordinator' even when the letter clearly quoted the relevant section.
"This situation sadly depicts our mentality of elevating individual pronouncement over clear constitutional provision paving way for impunity.
"Ag-President Osinbajo MUST take full responsibility if he fails to exercise MAXIMUM presidential powers to move us forward before PMB returns."
