- The alleged killer was later apprehended and detained at the Alausa police station after he tried to run away
A commercial bus driver on Thursday, May 11, disrupted Gani Fawehimi’s memorial rally after killing a young girl.
It was learnt that the girl was on the back of a bike on Kudirat Abiola way the Ikeja/Ojota area of Lagos.
Sahara Reporters reports that two other people were injured while attempting to escape from the accident.
NAIJ.com gathered that the tragedy happened in the early hours of the day.
The driver of the yellow bus was driving against the one-way traffic along Kudirat Abiola Way opposite the lane where activists were marching to commemorate the passing of prominent civil rights lawyer Gani Fawehinmi.
The activists had begun their march from under the popular bridge along Obafemi Awolowo Way in Ikeja with five police vans watching them closely.
The activists were said to have promptly ended their exercise and gave chase to the driver who was tried to escape from scene where he killed the girl.
The killer-driver was later apprehended and detained at the Alausa police station.
NAIJ.com recalls that a man on Sunday morning, April 30, lost his limb in an accident between a red Toyota and a commercial yellow bus otherwise known as ‘Danfo’.
The victim, who was a passenger in the danfo bus, sat in front when the accident happened.
His limb fell into the lagoon after the bus sustained a heavy crash with a private car on the bridge.
