The Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumin Kabir Usman, has appealed to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, for an extension of the proposed new Kaduna-Kano railway line to his own state.
According to Emir Usman, this would boost the socio-economic development of the area.
NAIJ.com reports that Osinbajo, who was on an official visit to Katsina, was received by the emir at his palace where he made the plea arguing that the extension would provide a platform to open the state up the more for business.
The emir described Katsina as a peaceful state that accommodates people irrespective of religion or ethnical differences.
Daily Trust reports that traditional ruler also pleaded for the upgrading of the Umaru Musa Yaradua Airport to serve as a hub for exportation of more foodstuff produced across the state.
Responding, Osinbajo assured that the request for rail extension would be considered to see how it could be implemented.
Osinbajo confirmed that Katsina is a peaceful state noting that President Buhari always preaches for religious tolerance, harmony and peaceful co-existence among the diverse people of the country.
NAIJ.com can also report that minister of state for Aviation, Hadi Siriki, confirmed that the airport the emir spoke about is among the six been slated for upgrade by the federal government.
