Some motorists travelling to Asaba and Onitsha are said to be stranded and begging other motorists for help following a fierce battle between officers of the Nigeria Police Force and suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The incident happening along Ossisa road, Daily Post reports is due to the alleged killing and injuring of some police officers along Eku-Abraka road by some herdsmen.
NAIJ.com gathered that the police blocked the road for thorough security checks for some of the herdsmen who are suspected to be hiding inside the Ossisa forest.
It was also gathered that some commercial motorists who have been forced to park along the road due to the police search have appealed to the Delta state commissioner of police Zanna Mohammed to prevail on the matter.
However, when contacted Mohammed refused comment on the matter.
The police commissioner said he was currently in a security meeting.
Mohammed said: "I’m in a security meeting now.”
Recall that some herdsmen had launched an attack along Eku-Abraka road in Delta state killing a police office and injuring four others.
NAIJ.com also gathered that the injured officer is currently receiving treatment at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara while the remains of the slain officer has been deposited at the morgue.
Reports said the Fulani herdsmen who had laid ambush along the road, opened gunfire after sighting a police van.
