Acting President Osinbajo yet to receive passed 2017 budget

- The National Assembly made of the Senate and the House of Representatives, passed the 2017 budget recently

- Presidency sources say the passed budget document is yet to reach Aso Rock more than 24 hours after it was passed

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo is yet to receive the 2017 budget from the National Assembly over 24 hours after it was passed.

Daily Trust quoted a source at the presidency as revealing this adding that the budget was being expected.

The source said the presidency would commence scrutiny of the document once the National Assembly forwarded it.

Legit.ng reports that the N7.28 trillion was passed by the National Assembly which jerked up the initial proposal of N7.44 trillion presented by President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2016.

“In the presidency, we have finalised arrangements for a thorough scrutiny of the document.

“We will do some cross checking to find out whether there are any strange items or infractions. It is after this is done that the issue of signing the budget will come up,” the source said.

The report quoted the senior special assistant to the president on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, as also confirming that the legislature was yet transmit the budget to Osinbajo.

He however said there was nothing extra-ordinary about the delay.
