7 advantages of living in Ghana instead of Nigeria

Comparing Ghana to Nigeria, the CIA World Factbook has revealed the following advantages of living in Ghana:

According to the Factbook, the life expectancy at birth in Ghana is 65.75 while in Nigeria it is 52.62.

This entry contains the average number of years to be lived by a group of people born in the same year, if mortality at each age remains constant in the future.

The entry shows that you will live 13.13 years longer in Ghana.

2. You will have more job opportunities

Ghana has an unemployment rate of 11.00% while Nigeria has 23.90%. This entry contains the percent of the labor force that is without jobs.

This means that in Ghana you are 53.97% less likely to be unemployed.

3. You are less likely to die as a child

The number of deaths of infants under one year old in a given year per 1,000 live births in Ghana is 38.52 while in Nigeria it is 74.09.

This rate is often used as an indicator of the level of health in a country and it shows that if you live in Ghana, you are 48.01% less likely to die in infancy.

4. You will make more money

The GDP per capita in Ghana is $3,500 while in Nigeria it is $2,800. This entry shows GDP on a purchasing power parity basis divided by population as of 1 July for the same year.

So, if you lived in Ghana, you would make 25% more money.

5. You are less likely to have HIV/AIDS

The percentage of adults living with HIV/AIDS in Ghana is 1.40% while in Nigeria it is 3.10%. 11,600 people in Ghana and 239,700 people in Nigeria die from AIDS each year.

This means that you are less susceptible if you live in Ghana by 54.84%.

6. You are less likely to be murdered

1.70 in every 100,000 people are murdered annually in Ghana compared to 10.30 in Nigeria

This includes the victims of an unlawful death purposefully inflicted on a person by another person. Data is originally sourced from either criminal justice or public health systems.

This means that you are 83.5% less likely to be murdered in Ghana.

7. You will pay less for healthcare

If you lived in Ghana you would spend 11.98% less money on health care.

Per capita public and private health expenditures combined in Ghana are $83.00 USD while Nigeria spends $94.30 USD
