The chairman of Ohaneze Youths Council (OYC) in Bayelsa, Chief Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa, disclosed this on Thursday, June 8, when urging members of the group to remain law abiding and peaceful across the nation.

Arthur-Ugwa, according to Vanguard, called on Igbos to disregard a quit notice purportedly issued to Ndigbo by the Arewa youths to leave the northern parts of the country, on the grounds that investigations had showed that the purported quit order had no basis.

He said: “The leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo under the leadership of Chief Nnia Nwodo is on top of the situation and there is no cause for alarm following assurances from northern leaders, our people have no need to fear.

“In the coming days, the leadership of Ohaneze will take a position but we in the youth wing of Ohaneze urge our people to refrain from panic because there is simply no need for it.

The OYC chairman said the assurances also been given by the minister of interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, on the issue was further proof that there was no cause for alarm.

Meanwhile, the police in Kaduna have launched a manhunt for Arewa youths who signed a declaration issuing a 90-day ultimatum to Igbos in the north to leave.

Legit.ng had reported that a coalition of northern youths in what they tagged ‘Kaduna Declaration’ on Tuesday, June 6, ordered Igbos to vacate and return to the south east.

In response, Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state ordered the arrest and prosecution of the signatories of the quit notice.

The state government in a statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, the spokesman to the governor of Kaduna state on Wednesday, June 7, condemned what it described as inciting, hate speech targeted at citizens of Igbo extraction.

The government therefore ordered investigation and prosecution of the signatories to the statement issuing the quit notice to the Igbos in the north.
