- Notorious kidnapper, Evans, expressed shock after seeing the picture of his wife and children
- His wife has denied knowledge of his criminal activities
- She begged that her husband be forgiven as he was a true Christian
Notorious kidnapper, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans was in shock when he saw the picture of his wife and children crying.
Evans has been in detention since he was apprehended by security operatives on Saturday, June 10, with his arrest garnering public commendation for the police.
Vanguard reports that its reporter met the kidnap kingpin where he was being monitored by gun-wavering policemen and showed him a photograph of his sad family.
Read the encounter below:
Reporter: Evans, (he raised his head eagerly looking at the reporter). I just spoke with your wife and kids in Ghana.
Evans: It is not true. It can’t be my wife.
Reporter: Look at them here. Your son in particular, crying his hearts out.
Evans: (He quickly retraced his steps, looked intently at the photograph. Suddenly, his countenance changed. He became speechless upon seeing the photograph clearly).
Reporter: Are the people in the photograph not your wife and kids?
Evans: (Looking downcast and in deep thought, maintained a studied silence).
Reporter: Just look at what you have done to your family. The many lives of innocent people you have ruined with your activities. Look at your beautiful kids crying their hearts out just for…
(His hostile stare towards the reporter spoke volumes. Were it possible, he would have grabbed the riffle from the policemen and shot at the reporter.)
Reporter: Evans, you are a very wicked man. See what you have done to your family. This is judgement time.
NAIJ.com had reported that his wife Precious speaking in a recent interview revealed that she could not believe all that she had heard about her husband, she said she did know he was a criminal because he presented himself as a God fearing man who always led the family in prayer. In fact, his favorite bible verse is Psalm 23.
She said: “I feel very bad because I did not know if he was doing all these or not. Even if he was into all these, why did he not stop because of me and his children? All the time when we pray, he used to promise God that he would tell Him his story later in life. Here reads psalm 23 a lot. Even his phone, he sets alarm for 12 noon to read psalm 23. He took part in our daily prayers in the morning, evening and night. He used to lead us in prayers. We attend Anglican Church. He has never given them money to show off. We used to give N5000 or N10,000 and the highest we have given so far was N50,000 when we baptized one of our children."
