How Nigerian media is encouraging kidnapping through Evans the Kidnapper - Public reforms boss

- The director general of Bureau of Public Reforms Joe Abah has condemned the 'handling of the notorious kidnappers stories by the media

- Abah said the Nigerian media is beautifying Evans activities there by encouraging kidnapping

The director general of Bureau of Public Reforms Joe Abah has condemned the manner at which the Nigerian media has painted notorious kidnapper Chukwudi Onuamadike popularly known as Evans.

Abah in an early morning tweet on Tuesday, June 20, said the media has glamourized Evans story, 'thereby encouraging kidnapping in Nigeria.

He said: "#TodaysHypothesis: The media glamourisation of the Evans story is more likely to encourage kidnapping and Dollar ransoms than to deter it."

NAIJ.com had reported how social media and microblogging site, Twitter, went agog after Evans'wife Precious for saying her husband is not a criminal.

Nigerians condemning the activities of the notorious kidnapper and his lifestyle slammed at Precious telling her that Evans had caused undue stress and sorrow for many families.

Abah said the Nigerian media is beautifying Evans activities there by encouraging kidnapping

They also asked her to keep religion out of the current police investigation on her husband's criminal activities.

Meanwhile, Evans had on Sunday, June 18, led officers of the Nigeria police to two houses in Ejigbo and Igando areas of Lagos state where in keeps his victims.

Evans who is now been refereed to 'the billionaire kidnapper'is said to be among the richest among such criminals arrested by security operatives in Nigeria.
