Prevail on Igbo youths to stop making provocative statements - El-Rufai

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna has met with Igbo people in living in his state with a promise to ensure the arrest of the northern youths who gave the quit notice under a coalition of groups.
El-Rufai also pleaded with Igbo leaders in the country to warn youths from the south-east from continuing making statements that come as threat and capable of tearing the country apart.
Daily Trust reports that the governor promised that the northern youths would be arrested no matter how long it took.
Speaking while receiving leaders of the Igbo Delegate Assembly as well as the northern Igbo chiefs who paid him a visit at Government House Kaduna, he said the youths would not only be arrested but prosecuted.

“Kaduna used to be a home for all, but so much crisis has divided the state and the metropolis across religious lines.
“As a government that is why we abolished indigeneship, once you live in Kaduna you are an indigene.
“We are going to arrest the Arewa Youths and bring them to justice no matter how long it takes,” he said.
Legit.ng learnt that in his reaction, the president-general of the Igbo Delegate Assembly, Chief Chikezie Nwogu, said the Igbo were not going anywhere but would remain in the north despite the threat.
He said: “We want the government to tackle the root cause of agitations and subsequent quit notice by Northern youths and find solution.

“We are not happy with the call for division. We want Nigeria as one so that all of us can benefit. Northern youths have been our brothers.”
El-Rufai had ordered the police to arrest the northern youths who gave Igbo people three months to leave the region. However, the order was not carried out.
This recently forced the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to express disappointment in Acting President Yemi Osinbajo recently.
Meanwhile, the a group known as the Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF), has warned the federal government that the arrest of Northern youths who asked Igbos to leave Northern region would lead to crisis.
