- The police force public relations officer, Jimoh Moshood, has reacted to a report that some senior officers were planning to stop the officers that arrested Evans from being promoted
- Moshood was said to have made this known in a telephone that he did not know anything about the promotion
- His reaction following the another reports that Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris’s had ordered the promotion of the officers
The Nigeria Police has said that there is no promotion for the officers that arrested the billionaire kidnap kingpin, Onwuamadike Chukwuduben, a.k.a Evans.
Reports have it that the Jimoh Moshood, the force public relations officer on Friday, June 23, said the promotion was the figment of the writer’s imagination.
Moshood said: “If such decision was made, I will be the one to make it public.
“If the Inspector General or the Police Force want to promote officers that performed gallantly, it’s a good move to encourage them, but there’s nothing of such for now.
“I’m telling you authoritatively that there’s nothing like that.”
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Nigeria’s most dreaded kidnapper, was arrested two weeks ago by men of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris’s Intelligent Response Team, IRT led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.
The IGP was said to have ordered the promotion of the officers that participated in the apprehension of the deadly criminal.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Nigeria Police Force had placed a N30 million bounty on the head of a wanted kidnap kingpin identified simply as Evans.
The Lagos state commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, told newsmen on Tuesday, May 16, that a N30 million reward, awaits anyone who gives information that leads to the arrest of the elusive Evans.
