Kenyan Muslims have been outraged after a popular restaurant in Nairobi posted an insensitive message on Eid al-Fitr.
Picazzo Restaurant located at The Hub Mall, had on Monday, June 26, posted an Eid al-Fitr message to Muslims but the photo that accompanied the message was of a roasted pig placed on a table.
The message elicited anger and condemnation from Muslims as a pig is forbidden animal among the Muslim faithful.
Picazzo Restaurant which is well known for its Spanish cuisine was later forced to apologise after other Kenyans from the religious divide condemned them for the insensitive post.
'The Picazzo Restaurant Management's attention has been drawn to a regrettable post earlier shared on our Instagram handle. As investigations progress, we unreservedly and sincerely wish to apologise to our Muslim brothers and sisters,'' Picazzo apology read in part.
The management of the restaurant later released a statement and said investigations were were under way how the message was posted without authorisation.
''Today we join all our Muslim brothers in celebrating Eid. Eid Mubarak to you all! Join us at The Hub Karen- 1st Floor for some tasty dishes. We serve best Spanish dishes in Nairobi! What will you eat?'' the message that had triggered anger read.

Muslim and Christian leaders blasted the restaurant for offering Muslims a pig for Eid claiming the message was meant to hurt them during a revered religious occasion.
Muslims across the country took to social media to call for the boycott of the restaurant.
