- Doyin Okupe, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has opened up on why northerners are angry with the Igbos
- Acording to him, the northerners are angry with the Igbos because they perceive as the blackmail of the Igbos to readily throw in the secession card every time they feel marginalized
- Another reason is that an Igbo man killed a great northerner, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto
Former presidential aide, Dr Doyin Okupe, has revealed why the north is angry with the Igbos of the southeast.
Okupe who claimed the clarification was necessary said the north is divided on their opinion on Igbos.
He said:"The north it will appear is divided, neither sharply nor equally. Some feel quite apprehensive, others believe the threat of Biafra is unreal, but majority are angry with the Igbos"
NAIJ.com gathered that the former aide said the northerners are angry with the Igbos because according to them, “they perceive as the blackmail of the Igbos to readily throw in the secession card every time they feel marginalized within the system.”
Okupe in a post he shared on Facebook, said: “Many are still hurting and unforgiving that Major Nzegwu an Igbo man, killed perhaps one of the greatest northern stars of all times, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto.
“Hordes of northerners also feel extremely insulted by the rhetoric that the North is the problems of Nigeria and that the north remains essentially an economic parasite on the Nation’s wealth.
“This feeling is pervasive and cuts across all ages and classes in the north.”
In a previous report by NAIJ.com, Okupe said that majority of the Igbos who reside in the south east worship Nnamdi Kanu like a saviour.
He noted that for these Igbos, Biafra is in their heart, soul and body.
According to reports, Okupe claimed to have consulted widely across Nigeria in order to get the real mindset of Igbos.
