Adamawa APC forwards its nominee for Babachir’s replacement to party's headquarters

- The federal government is yet to replace Mr Babachir Lawal as the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF)

- Lawal was suspended after he was indicted by a Senate panel

- The Adamawa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seem to be in a hurry to replace their kinsman

- The party has nominated someone to replace him

The Adamawa state chapter of the APC has nominated one Comrade Mustapha Salihu as replacement for former SGF, Babachir David Lawal.

According to Daily Post, the party sent the name of its nominee to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in Abuja.

The letter was co-signed by the governor of Adamawa state, Bindow Jibrilla, the state chairman of the party, Ibrahim Bilal, and the APC secretary in the state, Sa’idu Naira.

The letter partly reads: “Your Excellency, the party Exco, the working committee has met with His Excellency Executive Governor of our state (Adamawa), in line with Article 17 (iv) of the party constitution as amended, we hereby nominate Alhaji Mustapha Salihu as Engr. Babachir David Lawal’s replacement as National Vice Chairman North East zone pending ratification at the mini convention.

“Our careful research and ananlysis revealed that Comrade Mustapha Salihu has tremendously supported and contributed to APC in this zone, hence his nomination.”

The decision of the Adamawa APC has also been endorsed by leadership of the party in the remaining five states in the zone, namely Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe and Taraba.

Babachir Lawal was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari after he was indicted in a grass-cutting deal in the orth-east.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom chapter of the APC has weighed in on a news story published by NAIJ.com concerning the chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption (PACAC), Professor Itsey Sagay.

The APC UK urged the revered professor of law to defend himself amidst allegations that he did not declare his assets at the Code of Conduct Bureau on assumption of office.
