Enugu APC suspends state chairman over alleged abuse of office

- The chairman of the APC in Enugu state, Ben Nwoye, has been suspended for alleged abuse of office

- Nwoye’s suspension was announced on Monday, July 3, by the state working committee meeting of the APC in Enugu state

- But Nwoye describes the action against him as an exercise in futility

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu state, Ben Nwoye, has been indefinitely suspended by the party.

The suspension of Ben Nwoye was announced on Monday, July 3, by the state working committee meeting of the APC at the party's secretariat in the state.

Nwoye was accused of abuse of office by the deputy chairman, Mr. A.C Udeh in the company of other exco members at the meeting, Daily Post reports.

The embattled chairman was also accused of running the party as his personal enterprise as well as engaging in financial misappropriation.

But Nwoye, when contacted for comments about his suspension described the action against him as an exercise in futility.

He said his suspension was a breach of Article 21 of the APC constitution.

Meanwhile, the APC has revealed that it does not know the current health status of President Muhammadu Buhari more than 50 days after he left the country for medical treatment.

President Buhari’s trip to the UK for medical treatment has triggered different reactions in the country with many asking him to resign.

Bolaji Abdullahi who is the spokesperson of the ruling APC was quoted by Channels Television as saying he was not aware of the health status of President Buhari and neither does the party.
