Oby Ezekwesili, a former minister of Education and a co-leader of the #BringBackOurGirls group has lambasted the Nigeria’s Senate for their tacit backing of Dino Melaye, the controversial Kogi state senator currently battling a recall crises.
The senator who sought the help of his colleagues over the recall process initiated by his constituents was assured by Ike Ekweremadu, deputy Senate president on Tuesday, July 4, that the recall process was “dead on arrival”.
Consequently, Mrs Ezekwesili, on Tuesday accused Ekweremadu of speaking “so cynically and without due respect to citizens’ right”.
In series of tweets, the co-convener of #BringBackOurGirls lambasted Nigerian senators over their attitudes.
“Our members of @nassnigeria are like a man who NEVER imagined he would get an Ozo title. He wears the beads on his knees instead of ankles!
“Funny fellows that call themselves ‘Excellencies, Distinguished, and Honorable’. They don’t know that ‘the hood does not make a monk’”

NAIJ.com had reported that Senator Dino Melaye called on the Nigerian Senate to intervene and stop alleged moves by the Kogi state government to recall him from the red chamber.
The senator representing Kogi west made the call on Tuesday, July 4, during plenary on the floor of the Senate.
Melaye citing order 14, alleged that the recall process was being masterminded by the Kogi state government.
The senator said the names and signatures on the recall register was forged by Kogi state officials.
