68,399 ballot papers missing in Osun – PDP

- The Peoples Democratic Party has said that 68,399 ballot papers are missing in Osun state

- The party said four local government areas in Osun West Senatorial District have discrepancies in the ballot paper numbers

- The party also alleged that ballot boxes do not tally with those on records and were provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that 68,399 ballot papers for the forth coming Osun bye-election are missing.

The chairman of the Osun state PDP chapter Soji Adagunodo said the ballot papers that should be used for the Saturday, July 8, Osun West Senatorial District have disappeared.

Adagunodo in a statement released said the party discovered the discrepancies in the number of ballot papers delivered to at four local government areas in the district on Thursday, July 6.

He said various wards in Ayedaade, Ede North, Egbedore and Isokan local governments of the Senatorial District had missing ballot papers.

He added that the serial numbers on the ballot boxes do not tally with those on records and were provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The state party chairman demanded: "Full disclosure on the reasons for the discrepancies in order to maintain the sanctity of the electoral process and retain the confidence of voters in the electoral umpire.”

He said it was the responsibility of INEC to explain the whereabouts of the ballot papers and prove that they have not been tampered with by miscreants.

He raised alarm of illegal movement of some items conveyed in ambulance within the area.

He said there is the, “illegal movement of certain items in ambulances, refuse disposal vans and some state government vehicles between Friday morning and Saturday evening.”

He further called on party members in the state and district to remain vigilant ahead of Saturday's election and report any suspicious movement to the relevant agencies.

The governor said Adedeji Adeleke and his other family members are using the death of their brother to manipulate the people of Ede community.
