Benue community to ban men who spend more than N100,000 on wedding ceremonies

In Benue state, community leaders have come out to warn young men who have refused to get married not to spend lavishly on wedding ceremonies.

It has been reported that traditional ruler of Otukpa, the headquarters of Ogbadibo LGA Benue state, Chief Sir Sunday Ekele Jp has banned young men planning to gets married not to spend more than N100,000 on traditional wedding ceremonies.

Joy FM, Otukpe further reported that Chief Ekele made this decision after discovering that young men in the community have refused to get married following the outrageous bride price being collected from them.

The chief said: “Money should not prevent anyone from getting married in our community. From now onward, no one should spend more than hundred thousand naira before he gets a wife in our community. We need to encourage the young men so they won’t be scared of going into marriage.”
