Ambode announces partnership with Switzerland company for rice mill in Lagos

- Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state said the latest move is part of a plan to ensure food security in Nigeria

- The agreement was signed after Governor Ambode met with the leadership of the Switzerland company

While many states of the federation continue to battle with poor revenue and inability to pay workers, the Lagos government has concluded plans for an ultra-modern rice mill.

Legit.ng learnt that the agreement for the construction of the mill was reached at a meeting between Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Buhler Group in Switzerland, a global market leader in rice processing.

Though it is yet to be revealed when this would take effect, there is excitement among officials of the state who believe that this would further boost the state’s economy and help with the employment of residents.

Ambode said the move is also to ensure food security in the state and in Nigeria.

Legit.ng had reported earlier that Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state recently called Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos the governor-general of Nigeria.

The report said Ambode was in Osun where he paid a courtesy visit on Aregbesola, who said the position of Lagos as the economic nerve-centre of the country and the brilliant performance of the former could not be downplayed.

Aregbesola noted that the economy of Lagos was about the summation of economies of thirty states in Nigeria.
