ASUU threatens indefinite strike over members in Boko Haram captivity
- The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) declared that it may go on an indefinite strike if its members in Boko Haram captivity are not freed
- ASUU made this declaration six days after some members of the University of Maiduguri chapter of the union were abducted in an ambush by the terrorists in Borno state
- No less than 48 people were abducted on the same day
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to go on an indefinite nationwide strike over it members in Boko Haram’s captivity.
ASUU declared that it may go on strike if its members that were abducted by the terrorists are not rescued at the expected time.
Channels TV reports that this comes six days after some members of the University of Maiduguri chapter of the union were abducted in an ambush by the terrorists in Borno state.

Legit.ng gathered that the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), lecturers were among the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) exploration team in the Lake Chad Basin.
It was learnt that no less than 48 people including the six lecturers of UNIMAID, about 15 soldiers, 11 members of the civilian JTF and NNPC workers were part of the exploration team attacked by Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday, July 25.
The Nigerian Army on Saturday, July 29, disclosed that it had recovered the bodies of 21 people who were part of the ambushed exploration team.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, in earlier statement claimed that the exploration workers had been rescued was “most regrettable''.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo condemned the appalling ambush, attack and abduction of soldiers, and civilians who were carrying out their duties to the Nation in the Lake Chad Basin Frontier Exploration.
In a statement released by Laolu Akande, a senior special assistant on media and publicity in the office of the Acting President, Osinbajo also assured Nigerians that the government was doing all within its powers to ensure that the attacks stop.
