Nigerian Cambridge student under investigation for racist tweets
- British born Jason Osamade Okundaye had sent out a series of tweets claiming that all white people are racist and urging protesters to carry on
- The Cambridge University student later stated that his tweet was conflated with separate tweets which supported the Dalston protests and his support of activism which seeks justice against police brutality
- Police are investigating Okundaye over the tweets after reportedly receiving numerous complaints from people who stated that Okundaye was inciting violence with his tweets
- A Cambridge University spokesman stated that the College is looking into the matter and will respond appropriately
A Nigerian student at Cambridge University, Jason Osamade Okundaye, is being investigated by UK police after he sent out tweets claiming that all white people are racist, The Independent, UK reports.
Okundaye, who runs the Black and Minority Ethnic Society at the university had posted his tweets in support of protesters who clashed with police in east London over the death of a young man.

The Cambridgeshire Police claimed that they had launched an investigation after receiving plenty complaints that the tweets were inciting violence and hatred.
In a series of tweets, the British-born Nigerian had claimed that the Dalston area had been colonized by white people, even as he praised the protesters.
He tweeted: “Watching these middle-class white people despair over black people protesting in their colonised Dalston is absolutely delicious.”
“ALL white people are racist. White middle class, white working class, white men, white women, white gays, white children they can ALL geddit.”
Tweeting, Okudaye also urged the protesters to “smash everything”.
A member of parliament Tony Blackman, stated: “This is stirring up racial hatred unnecessarily – and completely without justification.”
In response to the controversy over his tweets, Okundaye stated: “My tweet about all white people being racist was pulled out of context and separate to my tweets in support of the Dalston protests.
”My tweets on white racism had been said before, in response to people acting as if racism is exclusive to working-class people.
“I stated that regardless of sexuality, class, gender or age, all white people are racist, ie, not just one type of white person.
"And the reference to 'geddit' refers to my previous tweets on how all demographics of whiteness can and should be called out for their racism and how it specifically manifests in their groups, eg, white middle-class people refusing to hire black people, or white gay men stating 'no blacks, no Asians' on dating apps such as Grindr.
“The tweet was conflated with my separate tweets which supported the Dalston protests and my support of activism which seeks justice against police brutality.”
A Cambridge University spokesman stated: “The College is looking into this matter and will respond appropriately.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Ozi Akerele, a Nigerian student who had been declared missing for a year, was found dead.
The body of the 24-year-old student of Coventry University, England was found by young boys playing football.
The young boys had kicked a football into a disused Coventry churchyard, off Albert Fearns Garden, in Foleshill, and only found the body when they climbed over a fence to retrieve the ball.
