Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Belgian top flight club Mouscron on a season long loan deal from Premier League club Liverpool.

The 19-year-old who joined Liverpool from Imperial Soccer Academy in 2015 for a reported fee of £400,000 spent last season with NEC Nijmegen having previously embarked on a loan stay at FSV Frankfurt in Germany.

Awoniyi was previously linked with a move to Dutch second division side Fortuna, but the former Flying Eagles forward opted for a move to Belgium.

He however becomes the ninth Nigerian player who will be featuring in the Belgian Jupiler league this coming season.

Nigerian players already with Belgian clubs are Henry Onyekuru, Moses Simon, Anderson Esiti, Samuel Kalu, Uche Agbo, Kingsley Madu, Joseph Akpala and Christian Osaguona.
