Oba Akiolu of Lagos issues strong warning to Nigerian Senate

The Senate must be prepared to improve or get set for attack by hungry and angry Nigerians, Oba Akiolu of Lagos has warned the senior lawmakers.
Legit.ng learnt that Oba Akiolu issued the warning when he received the minister for health, Professor Isaac Adewole, in his palace on Monday, August 1.
Premium Times reports the Oba as saying: “There is still room for improvement and I appeal to them to do what Nigerians want because the way we are going, I will not pray for a situation where Nigerians will rise and go attack them in the Senate as it is getting to that stage as Nigerians are hungry and angry.

“Let me make it loud that majority of right thinking Nigerians are annoyed with them on the recent decision to sit on certain matters.”
Though the senior monarch did not mention his complaints against the Senate, the report said the upper chamber recently began probing the availability of dr*gs from the European Union in the Nigerian market.
It was learnt that Adewole was at the palace seek for the Oba’s support for the Coordinated Warehouse Centre in Lagos as well as the National Dr*g Distribution Guidelines.
Under the guidelines, the federal government proposes that dr*g sellers in a community will operate from one location, the report said.

Legit.ng reports that the Senate recently passed the whistle-blowers protection bill which many think is meant to give more protection to alleged looters.
The bill was passed by the upper chamber during plenary on Wednesday, July 19, after it was read for the third time.
