- Chief Ayo Adebanjo stated that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has handled the country very well so far
- He expressed hope that under no circumstances would anyone try to use unconstitutional means to displace Osinbajo
- According to the Afenifere chieftain, if the reverse is the case, the country would be disintegrated
Ayo Adebanjo, a chieftain of Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, has warned that Nigeria will break up if anyone tries to frustrate Acting President Yemi Osinbajo from assuming the position of substantive President when the need arises.
Adebanjo gave the warning in a chat with The Sun.
He stated: “He is handling it, “Nigeria” constitutionally.
“I only hope that people will not use unconstitutional means to displace him.
“He is acting well and I hope there is no circumstance that anybody would say that he can truncate this democratic system using undemocratic means.
“If that happens, that will be the disintegration of this country.
“We hope people will not use any unconstitutional means to frustrate Osinbajo if it is necessary for him to assume the Presidency.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that a northern group, the Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF), said no individual or group of individuals can prevent Yemi Osinbajo from taking over leadership of the country if President Muhammadu Buhari resigns or is unable to continue in office due to ill health.
The group, speaking on the backdrop of calls by some politicians for Osinbajo to step down if Buhari resigns, said that the Acting President cannot be stopped by anyone or group of people from being the substantive President if Buhari cannot continue.
