Editor's note: Public commentator, Nasir Abdu Chikaji, writes on the crisis rocking the Kaduna state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It is obvious that few people in Kaduna state could understand the genesis of the current problem of some elites groupings known as "APC Akida" or "Kaduna Restoration Group". But some of us who have been following the trend of political events in Kaduna state are aware that the two elite groups were the product of selfish personal interests.
First to begin with, the repeated media campaigns against the administration of Governor Nasir El-Rufai is Senator Shehu Sani. Even governor Elrufai has admitted on many occasions that Senator Shehu's quarrel was why his commissioner nominees who had Diploma qualifications were not considered.
But for El-Rufai, a state like Kaduna that represents the epicentre of knowledge and scholarship should not settle down for persons with less than a first degree certificate. So, El-Rufai's sin was setting a standard that Senator Shehu's candidates could not scale.
Second on the list is Alhaji Tijjani Ramalan, the media mogul and his bid for juicy contracts that could not materialize under the El-Rufai administration. It is no surprise that he chose to resign as a key player in the Kaduna state APC. Maybe if he gets a contract, he would change gear.
Third is Senator Suleman Hunkuyi. His grouse against El-Rufai defies immediate categorization because he has enjoyed a lot of patronage from the El-Rufai administration, including the appointment of his younger brother as commissioner for works.
For many years, Hunkuyi's senior brother - Idris Othman - has been a close associate of El-Rufai. This perhaps explains the anger by some people who are now asking the question: "what does Senator Hunkuyi really want?" This questions leads us to an exclusive investigatory analysis by a respected national daily newspaper known as The Sun which predicted that Hunkuyi has been nursing Kaduna governorship ambition and it would be just a matter of time before it comes out openly. Now, the time has come, as Senator Hunkuyi has joined the Restoration crowd and identified with the Akida confusion. This is therefore only a tip of the iceberg.
The fourth important figure in the Restoration baloney is Professor Dankofa, former legal adviser of the El-Rufai governorship campaign team. He has never hidden his love for the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), which he eventually lost to Malam Balarabe.

There are a whole lot of other reasons why the remaining members of the Kaduna Restoration baloney and Akida confusion are still in the gale of agitation. Significantly, they are all strange bed fellows, united by the absolute hunger for political power and envy against governor Nasir El-Rufai.
What is clear is that, like the futile revisionist campaign for the restructuring of Nigeria, the Kaduna Restoration baloney and Akida confusion will collapse like a pack of cards. This is more so because a lot of people are asking daunting questions about what agenda the two groups are representing. These questions arose due the multiple and successful execution of infrastructural and other projects by the El-Rufai administration.
History has a way of repeating itself and for now, we can only keep our fingers crossed. May Kaduna be great again, regardless of the political distractions.
