Return or Resign protest: Charly Boy is to blame for the attack by Buhari supporters - Femi Adesina

- Femi Adesina stated that it was wrong for Charly Boy to take his #ReturnOrResign protest against President Buhari to the market in the first place

- The presidential aide declared that we are for one Nigeria, and not for ethnic cleavages

- Adesina boasted that those who attempted to ethnicize the protest have failed, as the issue of ethnicity should never be introduced into any protest

Entertainer-turned-activist, Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy, has been criticized by Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s special adviser on media and publicity, for taking his #ReturnOrResign protest against the president to a market place; thereby provoking the attack by Buhari supporters.

According to reports, Adesina made his comments in reaction to the clash between Charly Boy’s group and Buhari supporters at the Wuse Market, Abuja.

He stated: “Taking a protest to the market in the first place was wrong, so whoever took the protest to the market place was the one that attempted to make it get out of hand.

“We are not for ethnic cleavages, we are for one Nigeria.

“Anybody that attempted to ethnicize protests failed, because everyone has a right to protest and ethnicity is not something that should be introduced to protests.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that conveners of the Coalition #ReturnOrResign movement under the groups Our Mumu Don Do movement and Concerned Nigerians, Charles Oputa, a.k.a Charly Boy and Deji Adeyanju respectively threatened court action against President Muhammadu Buhari if he fails to resume or resign as Nigeria’s president if incapacitated by ill health within 21 days from August 16, 2017.

The coalition equally moved their protests to Lagos state and also continued with the one in London, while calling off their protest in Abuja over what they termed as continued attacks on their members by the Nigerian Police and alleged government-sponsored hoodlums.
