Why EFCC, ICPC must investigate past, present Abia governors - Party chieftain

- The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Abia state, Alex Otti has disclosed why anti-graft agencies must probe Abia state government

- Otti also called on the National Assembly to quickly review and withdraw its approval of 200 million Dollar loan for the state government

- He said the loan is supposedly coming from the African Development Bank (AFDB) with a tenure of about 20 years with a seven year moratorium

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Abia state, Alex Otti has called on anti-graft agencies to probe past and present governments in the state.

Otti said Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), must unravel the alleged ''disappearance of billions of naira accrued to the state''. The Nation reports.

He also noted that mis-governance in the state had assumed a frightening dimension and had become an intolerable embarrassment.

Legit.ng gathered that he also called on the National Assembly to quickly review and withdraw its approval of 200 million Dollar loan for Abia state government.

The politician condemned the National Assembly’s approval of $200 million loan for the state from the African Development Bank (AfDB).

According to him, ''This primitive and callous administrative ineptitude has left many Abia workers being owed up to eight months’ salary arrears, making their lives and those of their families miserable.

''There is absolutely no doubt that the Ikpeazu/PDP-led government does not mean well for Abia State and its people.

''The consistency of negativity of the government, especially in the management of the people’s commonwealth has assumed a provocative and insulting dimension.

''Hence, the need for all men of good conscience to collectively raise their voices in saving the state by calling Okezie Ikpeazu and his collaborators to order so that they don’t plunge Abia and Abians into long-term financial and economic chaos.

''Mind you, the above mentioned funds and other funds secured by the Ikpeazu/ PDP led government has nothing to do with the tens of billions of naira gotten by the government as statutory monthly allocations and internally generated revenues''.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported in a bid to sanitize the in state local government system, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu threw his weight behind the implementation of the staff verification exercise which so far exposed 1,642 workers with fake certificates.
