Speaking to Vanguard in an interview on Monday, August 28, Waku said nobody is above the law and that Kanu should have his bail revoked and put back in jail.

He said: “Did he not violate his bail conditions? He should have his bail revoked and put back to jail. Nobody is above the law. The government should demonstrate that it is serious."

Similarly, elder statesman, Tanko Yakasai, supported the federal government’s decision to approach the court over the reported violation of bail conditions by Namdi Kanu.

Yakasai told Vanguard that the IPOB leader was granted bail on certain conditions, adding that if it was established that he had violated his bail conditions, it was up to court to decide.

He said: “Kanu is under bail with certain conditions, if those conditions were breached, it was right for the government to approach the court for decision.

“The issue is purely judicial, and the Federal Government has taken the right step to address it, and current effort by tribal lords to politicise it is unfortunate “

On his part, retired police commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, backed the government’s decision to approach the court over Kanu on the grounds that the IPOB leader has begun to cause trouble.

He said: “Kanu was not acquitted of the charges against him; he was only released on medical grounds. And the court gave him conditions which he appears to have violated. And he has developed a penchant for making trouble.

“I think the government is right to have approached the court again because if Kanu is left to continue the way he is going, other groups will emulate him.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) is sending a warning signal to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, over the latter’s alleged setting up of a security service.

The police said the Biafran security outfit was illegal and would not be condoned.

Legit.ng learnt that the warning was issued by Adeleye Oyebade, the police commissioner in charge of Abia state while he paraded some suspected criminals.
