About eight people have been left dead while seven others sustaining severe injury when a commercial bus fell off a bridge on Itakpe-Aladja road.
The incident that happened on Tuesday, August 29, on the Agbor/Ogwashi-Uku axis of the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha highway involved a commercial bus with registration number BMA 524 XA.
According to Daily Sun, the dead victims included six males and two females, while the injured included six adults and a child.
NAIJ.com gathered that the corpses of the dead victims have been deposited at the mortuary, the injured survivors were rushed to a private clinic at Agbor in Delta state for emergency treatment.
An eyewitness, however, said that the chances of survival of the injured was not certain and wondered what could have made the driver of the ill-fated vehicle to veer off the road.
Rindom Kumven, the state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), who confirmed the incident attributed the cause of the crash to fatigue. He also said that the driver might have lost control of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported how Emmanuel Akem, head of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) died in a fatal accident.
Akem was involved in the accident at Garaku, along Lafia-Makudi road on Wednesday, August 16.
