Senator Shehu Sani has advised the minister of women affairs and social development, Aisha Alhassan, to resign from Buhari’s cabinet if she intends to work for former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, in 2019.
The Punch in a report dated September 7, stated that lawmaker gave the advice in reaction to Alhassan’s declaration to back Atiku Abubakar’s bid for the presidency against President Muhammadu Buhari if the former decides to contest in 2019.
The senator however, said the minister was better than some in Buhari’s government who were undermining the administration.
He said: "The difference between that woman, who made the statement as a minister and others, is that she was open and others are still having it in their minds.

“If she is prepared to work for the former vice-president, I think in the event that this President contests (again) or not, she can easily excuse herself from this government and concentrate on what she believes in in 2019.”
Meanwhile, the presidency has summoned the minister of women affairs, Aisha Alhassan, to Aso Rock a day after her reported endorsement of Atiku Abubakar for president in 2019 became public.
According to the Sun, the summon may be connected to her comments on Wednesday, September 6, where she reportedly said even if President Buhari decides to re-contest in 2019, she would still support Atiku.
