Boko Haram goes on rampage, kills 6 Civilian JTF in Borno

A report by Daily Trust indicates that six members of the vigilante youth group popularly known as Civilian JTF, have been killed by Boko Haram militants.

The incident reportedly happened when the insurgents were firing guns towards an IDPs camp in Ngala local government area of Borno state.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that the terrorists launched a Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) into the IDPs camp on Friday, September 8.

Legit.ng gathered that the IDPs camp is home to 80,000 people in the state.

The executive director of the Network of the Civil Society Organizations in the state, Ambassador Ahmed Shehu, who shared the story with journalists said: “The explosion was followed by a suicide bomber, who attacked the International School Camp through the back axis of Wulgo/Zannari wall. Unfortunately, six Civilian JTF on duty were killed.”

Meanwhile, a total of 680 members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) have died trying to repel Boko Haram terrorists attacks in Borno from 2012 to date, the groups legal officer, Mr Junril Gunda, has said.

Gunda said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri on Friday, June 30, that in spite of the high casualty figure, the JTF remain undaunted in its resolve to protect communities in the state from the terrorists.
