Ignore Nnamdi Kanu, accept his message - Group tells Buhari

- An Igbo group has urged the president to ignore the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra

- The group asked President Muhamamdu Buhari not to discard the messages of the IPOB leader

- The group said Kanu has succeeded in bringing the need for restructuring of Nigeria to bare

A pan-Igbo socio political group has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, but accept his message on the state of the nation.

The group while condemning the approach of the IPOB leader in registering his grievances urged President Buhari not to 'throw away the baby with the bath water'.

The Reformers' Platform said the Biafra agitation by Nnamdi Kanu and his group IPOB has endangered the much appreciated effect on the Nigerian polity.

In a statement signed by the national president and secretary of the Reformers' Platform David Agbaeze and Emeka Nwankwo, the group also condemned the proscription of the IPOB as a terrorist organization.

The group also said that the agitation by the IPOB has brought the attention of Nigerian to the need for restructuring.

The statement read: "We urge President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore Nnamdi Kanu and take a critical look at some of the issues contained in his agitation.

"There is no doubt that IPOB’s agitation had drawn attention to the urgent need to restructure Nigeria to the satisfaction of all component units."

The Reformers' Platform also said, Nigeria cannot continue to tread on a dangerous path of injustice and dissatisfaction, which they alleged are the main reasons for the agitations.

The group said it will be to the people of the south east should the president exclude the region from certain positions.

The Reformers' Platform said: "This breeds ill feeling leading to Ndigbo believing that they are not wanted in Nigeria.

"The more we continue to ignore these agitations, the more they fester and breed discontent. The revenue sharing formula should be reviewed. The present system where everybody runs to Abuja monthly to collect allocation is not helping this country.

"Let Nigeria practice true federalism. All sections of this country must be given a sense of belonging, this is the only way we can end the increasing agitations in Nigeria. The Reformers’ Platform advises President to urgently look into the grievances and agitations of various groups in Nigeria and dialogue with them for the peace and unity of the nation.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Alaafin of Oyo had urged the federal government to pay attention to the growing calls for restructuring of the nation.

Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III said the failure to restructure Nigeria must result in a forceful breakout of various regions.

Alaafin said restructuring will also solve the delay of salaries and pension payments as well as bring an end to other socio-economic woes ravaging Nigeria.
