- The PDP announces that the suspension of Ken Emeakayi takes effect immediately
- Oseloka Obaze wins the PDP primaries for the Anambra gubernatorial election
Ken Emeakayi, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state, has been suspended for four years.
The suspension which was announced by the party on Thursday, September 28, takes immediate effect, Channels TV reports.
Though the reason for Emeakayi’s suspension was yet to be made public as at the time of publishing this report, NAIJ.com learnt that it may be connected with the trouble that has trailed the Anambra state chapter of the party as the Anambra gubernatorial election approaches.
NAIJ.com had reported that shortly before the Anambra PDP primaries, candidates indicated interest to boycott the poll or step down over alleged candidate imposition.
A source had alleged that he and many other aspirants in the election already planned to boycott the election over the imposition of a candidate Oseloka Obaze blessed by former governor, Peter Obi.
Obaze served as the secretary to the state government under Peter Obi on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and only moved to the PDP recently.
He eventually won the poll and choose the daughter of former vice president of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme, Barr Chidi Ekwueme-Onyemelukwe, as his running mate.
In the video below, former president, Goodluck Jonathan, said Nigerians want PDP back in 2019.
