Over 50 people dead, 200 injured as 64-year-old man shoots up Las Vegas club

- An outdoor concert in Las Vegas on Sunday night, quickly became one of the worst mass shootings in US history

- The shooting carried out by a lone gunman has left at least 50 people dead and about 200 injured

- The shooter killed himself as several SWAT units swooped in on the scene

A 64-year-old gunman identified as Stephen Paddock fired rapidly from a Las Vegas hotel on a huge outdoor concert festival on Sunday night, sending people fleeing into the night.

Before SWAT units found him, he had killed more than 50 people, and injured at least 200 others.

The tragedy has been named one of the deadliest mass shootings in United States history. Singer Jason Aldean was performing outside at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, a three-day country music event, when the shooting started.

The music stopped and people could be heard screaming “Get down, Stay down."

According to the New York Times, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of Clark County told reporters early Monday, October 2, that more than 50 people were killed and more than 200 injured.

He said the police were searching for a woman named Marilou Danley, his companions and the authorities later said they were confident they had located her.

President Trump also issued a statement on Twitter extending sympathies to the victims and their families.

Police radio reports also say that at least three people were transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.

Meanwhile, the police command in Lagos, Nigeria arrested five suspects in connection with the shooting of a Rev. Father, Daniel Nwankwo, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Onilekekere, Cement.

In a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the command, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, the suspects are being interrogated for vital information to aid police investigation.
