Gbenga Daniel to make formal declaration for PDP chairmanship on October 18

- Various prominent Nigerians including Bamangar Tukur, Sule Lamido, and Edwin Clark, have endorsed Daniel for the position

- Reports indicate that the former governor would make his bid in Abuja, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Ogun state governor, is allegedly set to formally declare his bid to contest for the Peoples Democratic Party’s national chairmanship position, on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, New Telegraph reports.

The opposition party’s elective National Convention is scheduled to take place on December 9, 2017.

Legit.ng gathers that Daniel, who is the chairman of the Kresta Laurel Group, will declare his bid at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The former governor has received endorsements from various prominent Nigerians including Chief Edwin Clark, an Ijaw leader and former minister for information; Alhaji Sule Lamido, former Jigawa state governor; and Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, former PDP national chairman.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), The Pathfinders, said that the party would die sooner than expected if the ex-Ogun state Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) is made its national chairman.

The group alleged that Daniel was involved in cultism during his tenure as governor, and that he had worked against the party in the southwest after he left office.
