Chief Olabode George is set to formally declare his intention to run for the national chairmanship position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
NAIJ.com gathered that the former deputy national chairman of the party, will on Friday, October 6, declare his ambition at the City Hall, Lagos.
The declaration of George, who is a major front runner in the race, is coming after receiving the backing of stakeholders’ from the six geo-political zones ahead of the party's forthcoming National Convention.
George promised to bring about true reconciliation, rebranding of the opposition party and ultimately return it to winning streak even before the 2019 general elections.
A chieftain of the party and former minister of transport, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, said George represents the party’s symbol of unity, fairness, equity, justice, progress and development.
Babatope who is also a member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), said: “I am picking George because of his experience as a party faithful who will ensure reconciliation of all aggrieved members of the party. Experience is the best teacher."
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the Pathfinders, a pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the party would die sooner than expected if the ex-Ogun state governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), is made its national chairman.

New Telegraph reports that the group spoke in reaction to media reports in national dailies that Daniel declared his intention to vie for the position of the National Chairman of PDP.
