The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, of plotting to kidnap Biafrans in Aba under the pretext that they are responsible for some heinous crimes in the city.

IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, made the accusation in a statement on Monday, October 2, when denying claims that members of the pro-Biafra group were planning to destroy some police stations in Aba.

Powerful said the purported attack was part of a grand plan by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to implicate members of the group with criminal activates so that they can be arrested and detained, Vanguard reports.

He said: “IPOB has never engaged in any crime of any sort from its inception to date. There is no police station that can claim to have received any complaint of lawlessness or crime allegedly committed by IPOB.

“Our rallies and evangelism are all done in full view of the public and well attended within communities with no single recorded adverse incident till date.

“IPOB has never been involved in any retaliatory attacks or killing of any human being because we believe, along with our ancient values, that life is a rare gift from God, which is not in the place of man to take.”

Meanwhile, the agitation for Biafra led by the leader of the outlawed IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has been faulted by Ndukwe Ikoh, a former Abia state House of Representatives aspirant.

In a chat with The Sun, Ikoh slammed Kanu for deviating from the original concept of Biafra, as laid down by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.

NAIJ.com gathers that Ikoh stated that Kanu had recruited as IPOB members, “people who sell or consume hard drug* in the southeast, as well as some petty thieves.”
