- Sarafadeen Ali, the chairman of the PDP caretaker committee in Osun state, said Oyinlola should forgive the party for the wrong done to him
- Ali also said anybody can be a member of any party he likes in Nigeria
The Peoples Democratic Party on Monday, October 2, apologised to Olagunsoye Oyinlola, its former national secretary, for what it called the injustice he suffered in the party.
Nigerian Tribune reports that Alhaji Sarafadeen Ali, the chairman of the PDP caretaker committee in Osun state, led a delegation of chieftains of the party to Oyinlola’s home in Okuku area of the state.
Alhaji Ali said: ''The decision to be member of any party is a personal one and we respect that decision of yours.
''Our mission is to come and ask for forgiveness, that you forgive us in your heart and we admit that what happened to you was an injustice and an error.''
The delegate included former deputy to Oyinlola, Erelu Olusola Obada, Adejare Bello, the former speaker of the state House of Assembly and Alhaji Lere Oyewumi, the former member of the national population commission, among others.
Oyinlola in his response, said he cherished the visit and explained that he felt concerned that issues went the way they went during his last days in the PDP despite all his efforts to ensure the unity of the party was protected.

He said: ''I want to say that I did everything humanly possible to make sure that the division did not come from me.
''I went to the extent of writing to the leadership of the party, the then Mr President to draw his attention to the issues that were eroding on the unity of the party but it seemed my own sincerity about the whole issues were misconstrued.''
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the southeast geopolitical zone PDP endorsed the party’s zoning arrangement of the president to the north and that of the national chairman to the southern part of Nigeria.
