The Indomie Bellefull Comedy Challenge 4.0 has come and gone, but it is assured that the memories will linger on. The 4th edition of the competition, which was tagged #FriendshipMemories in celebration of the International Day of Friendship, required participants to send in funny video entries of friendship memories that revolved around sharing food (in this case Indomie Instant Noodles).
The contest had over 250 video entries sent in the space of 6 weeks, with so many hilarious videos that created a lot of buzz on social media platforms, and which must have created a conundrum for likely judges as to whom should emerge the final winner. To this end, the brand turned to its fans on its social media pages, creating a dedicated website for fans to vote their favorite videos, and also asking fans to vote on the brand’s social Facebook page. The voting process saw the videos whittled down to 12 from the 30 that had been posted.
The highlight of the campaign was the selection of the final winners, which saw notable standup comedian Funny Bone and popular Instagram comedienne Wofai Fada act as judges on a panel that chose the grand prize winner and runners up from the 12 videos. The selection, which was done at the Indomie office at Surulere Lagos, was streamed live on the brand’s social media pages to allow fans follow the process and also had in attendance some of the participants whose videos had gotten to the final stage.
Selection of the final winner from the video entries was a daunting task for the judges, with the judging criteria based on creativity humor and relevance of video to the theme, but, at the end of the day, the video by @Tomdet1 was selected as the overall winner, going home with a cash prize of N500,000. 2nd placed winner was Ikenna Akwuruaha, with N300,000 cash prize. 3rd and 4th placed winners went home with N200,000 and N100,000 respectively, while the 5th-12th placed videos all got N50,000 each.
Speaking at the event, Indomie Chicken Brand Manager, Mr. Onome Asagbra, said the competition has been a reflection of the Indomie brand’s theme of ‘You Like No Other’, giving individuals the opportunity to showcase their uniqueness. He also encouraged youths to seek opportunities wherever they lay and said that the Indomie brand will keep organizing the Bellefull Comedy Challenge and showing support to budding comedians in the country.
Asaoye Philip, one if the winners who was at the selection and presentation, lauded the brand for the contest, saying that the feedback from the judges over his video entry will prove valuable to him in his career as a film maker and amateur comedian.
The brand is already making plans for the 5th edition of the contest, so follow Indomie Instant Noodles on Facebook, @IndomieNigeria on Twitter and @indomie_nigeria on Instagram to know how you can participate in the upcoming Indomie Bellefull Comedy Challenge 5.0.
