The group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru has visited the office of vice president Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja.
Daily Trust reports that the NNPC boss was on Friday, October 6, seen at the vice president's office shortly before he headed for the Office of the Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari.
Though details of his visit was not publicised, NAIJ.com learnt that it may be connected with allegations of insubordination leveled against the NNPC GMD by the minister of state for petroleum resources, Ibe Kachikwu, in a leaked letter to President Buhari dated August 30.
The minister had said Baru circumvented extant procurement regulations in awarding a series of contracts up to $25 billion, or N9 trillion at prevailing exchange rate of N360 to a dollar, warning of grave consequences the decisions could cause if allowed to stand.
Baru was also seen at the presidential villa mosque where he joined President Buhari for Jumaat service.
Meanwhile, President Buhari had a meeting with the minister of state for petroleum resources, Ibe Kachikwu, over the latter's allegations of insubordination and humiliation against the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru.
Daily Trust reports that the president’s meeting with the minister occurred around 11.40am.
